Rio Bravo Pipeline Relocation Project FAQ
The New Mexico Department of Transportation will begin road improvements along Rio Bravo Blvd. SW between I-25 and Isleta Rd. in Albuquerque. To maintain uninterrupted gas service, New Mexico Gas Company will be relocationg our pipeline in the area starting in early July.
1. What is the project and why does the pipeline need to be moved?
We are relocating the 16-inch natural gas transmission pipeline. The New Mexico Department of Transporation is planning to replace the existing Rio Bravo bridge and make other improvements to the roadway. Before NMDOT's work begins, New Mexico Gas Company will replace its pipeline that currently runs across the bridge.
2. Will natural gas service to customers be interrupted during the pipeline relocation project?
Service will continue for customers without interruption throughout the pipeline relocation project.
3. How long will it take to complete the pipeline relocation project?
New Mexico Gas Company's pipeline relocation project will start in July and is anticipated to run through mid-October.
